Educational Farm Visits

At Wooly Green Grazers in Center and Van Acres Homestead in Greenville, we offer hands-on, engaging educational experiences designed to inspire curiosity and compassion for farm animals—especially goats and sheep.

Whether you’re a Girl Scout troop, Cub Scout pack, home school group, youth team, budding 4-H member, or any group eager to learn, we have something unforgettable to share. We can host your visit at one of our farms—or even bring the experience to you!

What You’ll Learn

Our programs go beyond just seeing animals—they’re about forming real connections. Students and visitors will:

  • Meet goats and sheep up close, learning each animal’s name and unique personality.

  • Understand the daily responsibilities and skills needed to care for them.

  • Explore how farm animals think, feel, and communicate.

  • Gain insight into the bigger picture—how farming practices affect animals, people, and the planet.

By spending time on the farm, young learners gain confidence, build empathy, and connect with nature in a meaningful, memorable way. Whether they’re hoping to earn a badge, explore a new interest, or simply spend a day in the dirt with friendly animals, we make sure it’s fun, educational, and unforgettable.

Why It Matters

Introducing a student to an individual animal is simple, but powerful. Looking into a goat’s curious eyes or hearing a sheep’s story sparks wonder, compassion, and a deeper understanding of our relationship with the animals who share our world.

As awareness of factory farming grows, it’s more important than ever to equip young people with knowledge and empathy. Understanding the intelligent, social, and emotional nature of farm animals can inspire future leaders to make informed, compassionate choices. Addressing these topics in an age-appropriate, hands-on way helps prepare the next generation for a changing world and the challenges ahead.

Flexible Options for Your Group

We make learning accessible and adaptable:

  • On-Site Visits: Join us at Wooly Green Grazers or Van Acres Homestead for a full farm experience.

  • We Come to You: If you can’t make it to us, we can bring one or two animals to your site for an interactive program.

While most of our educational opportunities are free, off-site visits have a small minimum charge to cover travel, set-up, and break-down—costs vary depending on your group, location, and needs. Every situation is unique, so please reach out—we’ll work with you to make sure your group has the best possible experience.
